Weekend Knitting

After several months of not touching my knitting needles, I became inspired to pick them up again after spotting the Roscoff tank on Raverly by Army of Knitters (the tank is also similar to the Carnac sweater I made last year).  The yarn I’m using is Berocco Weekend, an acrylic and cotton blend – perfect for weekend knitting, har-har.

It’s so hard for me to focus on knitting when it’s warm out…I like to knit with wool, and even though I have AC, it just feels icky to me in the summertime.  Plus, there’s way too many cute clothes I want to sew for summer, and I always want to spend my time focusing on that since hot days to wear said clothes are in short supply during New England summers.

If you’re a knitter, how do you stay motivated to knit during the summer months?

I motivate myself by reminding myself I want to finish pieces BEFORE the fall so I can wear them!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who hates warm-weather knitting! It's just too sticky and hot, especially in my no-central-air apartment. And summer clothes are my favorite to sew, too. 🙂

I knit every day, so not knitting to me is not really a good option! I find that I'll knit with a cotton blend in the early spring, when I think it might be fun to have a hand knit garment to wear during the warm months. But by the time July comes around, I'm just knitting lace. Laceweight is perfect for summer! You can still knit with wool, but it's light and airy. Projects are very portable, and the results are stunning.

In late August, I start dreaming of sweaters I want to wear when it turns cold, so I'll usually cast on a wool sweater around then.
