Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment, but I’m trying my hand at sewing/fitting pants (yet again) this weekend. Since it’s a long weekend, I figured I should use the extra time I have to get some test fitting/muslins out of the way. The above is Simplicity 1696, part of their Amazing Fit pattern line. I like that there’s different pant patterns based on your back crotch length – slim, average, and curvy. Fingers crossed…I’m using some leftover stretch cotton from my By Hand London Elisalex/Charlotte dress, since I want to get this pattern fitted to work with stretch fabric. And floral pants – woohoo!
Also, faux welt pockets are my new favorite thing.
Other things on my mind this weekend:
- I can’t wait for Me Made May to be over – as much as I like wearing my handmade clothes, I miss my RTW garments! Oh, and the daily selfies: over it.
- I’m coming to NYC for an overnight trip Thursday-Friday! Hoping to squeeze in some shopping at Metro Textile and Mood, anyone want to join? I’ll also be in the city most of the following week.
- Just scored some amazing linen yesterday at Fabric Place Basement that looks like lamé – so cool, I think it’s like the fabric Clare used for her cami. I also got to take a peek in the back warehouse where they store all of the new fabric!
- ASG Boston is having a 30th anniversary party at Fabric Place Basement on Sunday, June 1. If you’re a current ASG member, we’re getting a double discount – 20%!! I think they’re also signing up new members that day. There will also be a presentation by Sondra Celli, who designs mega blinged-out dresses on the show My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. I’m sure these dresses are going to look amazing in person, and you don’t have to be a member to come to the event.
I love Style Arc patterns. Their Elle and Linda pants are winners!
Oh great, thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to check those out.
Finding a pants pattern that fits is amazing. Absolutely worth the effort, because it makes subsequent pants sewing so easy! I love the faux welt pockets, I can do real welts, but have never thought to just pretend – a great way to get the look without the extended effort 🙂
I hate wearing pants, but I guess if I made some in this fabric, I'd probably wear them. Hope they turn out amazing, as I'm sure they will! 🙂
These pants look great! The fabric is absolutely beautiful!
STRETCH WOVENS ARE KEY. And that fabric is gorg.
